George Walter Jones JEROME, Iowa - Services for George Walter Jones, 78, Jerome, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville. Burial will be in Jerome Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, and Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Jones died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines. He worked as a welder, a fireman, an insurance agent and consultant and owned two businesses. He was born October. 18, 1923, in Davenport. He married Margaret Hamm in 1942 in Unionville, Mo. He served as a Seabee in the Pacific for the Navy during World War II. Memorials may be made to Gideons International. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Frewing, Centerville; a son, George Jones, Tustin, Calif.; four grandchildren; sisters, Oney Stearns, Davenport, Edith McBride, Phoenix, Ariz, Rosemary Watson, Walnut, Ill., and Sara Lucas, Prescott, Ariz.; brothers, David Jones, Lost Nation, Daniel Jones, East Moline, and Henry and Richard Jones, both of Davenport.
