Civil War Veteran Co K, 7th Regiment, Illinois Infantry Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Friday, February 18, 1927 OTOE COUNTY VETERAN OF CIVIL WAR IS DEAD Burr, Neb., Feb. 18 -- William A. French, 81, the last Civil war veteran in southeastern Otoe county, died at his home here Thursday, following a short illness. He participated in the battles of Shiloh, Lookout Mountain, Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge and was with General Sherman in his march to the sea. Information provided by FAG Contributor #47466150.
