St. Paul Phonograph-Herald, September 16, 1992, page 5, transcribed by Linda Berney: Laura E. Goering, daughter of William and Elizabeth McLain French, was born September 19, 1895 at Burr, Nebraska. She departed from this life on September 8, 1992 at St. Paul, Nebraska at the age of 96 years. She received her education in a rural school in the Burr area and grew to womanhood on the family farm. Before her marriage, she was employed in domestic work. On March 3, 1914, she was united in marriage to Henry A. Goering at Lincoln. The couple first made their home in the Syracuse area and in 1924 moved to a farm near Palmer. They later purchased a farm in the Cushing area. Mr. Goering passed away December 20, 1961. Mrs. Goering continued to make her home on the farm until 1965 when she moved into St. Paul. She spent many years in child care for St. Paul families. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Church Circle of St. Paul. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Carl (Doris) Anderson of Elba; two sons, Merlin of St. Paul and Donald of Sterling, Colorado; a daughter-in-law, Delores Goering of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry; a son, Darold; two grandchildren, Denise Goering and Ronald Goering; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Don Goering; eight brothers and four sisters.
