The Greeley Citizen (Greeley, NE), Thursday, February 28, 1935; pg. 1 A Schuyler Couple Are married Here County Judge Scott issued a marriage license to Alvina M. Otte and Dick M. Binder, both of Schuyler last Saturday. The couple were married by the judge. This is the first marriage license issued in this county this year. ====================== Colfax County Call (Schuyler, NE), Thursday, March 7, 1935; pg. 2 Announcement was made Sunday of the marriage of Miss Alvina Otte, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Otte, to Richard (Dick) Binder, son of Mrs. John P. Binder, at Greely (sic), Nebr., Saturday, February 23. Miss Otte attended the public schools of North Bend and Schuyler, graduating from Schuyler high school in 1932. She has made her home with her parents since. This past year she has been an instructor in the Richland schools. Mr. Binder attended school at Dist. 4 and graduated from Schuyler high school in 1926. He has been at home since, assisting with the farm work. Mr. and Mrs. Binder had planned on keeping their marriage a secret until the end of the school year, but when members of the family learned it, they announced it to their friends. Mr. and Mrs. Binder are uncertain as to their plans for the future. ========================== The Schuyler Sun (Schuyler, NE), Thursday, December 10, 1987; pg. 9 Dick M. Binder dies in Colorado Dick M. Binder, 78, brother of Mrs. June Flynn, Schuyler, died Nov. 23 at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center, Brush, Colo. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Nov. 27 at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer with Rev. Ralph Rohr officiating. Jolliffe Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Binder was born Aug. 14, 1909, in Colfax County and graduated from Schuyler High School. He farmed in the Schuyler area and in 1934 (sic) he married Alvina Otte. She died in 1949. Later he married Gladys Nelson in Hastings. Bender was associated with a correctional institution for boys before moving to Fort Morgan in 1969. He and his wife opened Binder's Greenhouse which they owned and operated until retiring in 1983. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Donna Gill, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mrs. Andrea King, Panama City, Fla.; son, Scott, Denver, Colo.; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Dahlsten, Sylmar, Calif.; Mrs. Inez Loseke, Ericson, Ruth Binder, North Bend; Mrs. June Flynn, Schuyler; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
