SAM JACKSON Chatfield, Texas. Died of Wounds The body of Sam Jackson of Chatfield, who died of wounds received while fighting in France, arrived in Corsicana this morning and was taken to Chatlield, where the funeral services were conducted, with burial in the Chatfield cemetery this afternoon. Samuel Levy Jackson died of wounds received in battle October 4, 1918. He died the same day he was wounded but was carried to the hospital before he died. He entered the service in October, 1917, and trained at Camp Travis, Texas. He was a corporal in Company E, 360th Infantry, 180th Brigade, 90th Division. He was twenty-eight years of age when killed. His mother has been dead for many years, but his father, John Martin Jackson, still resides at Chatfield. The body was met at the station by a detachment of the Johnson-Wiggins Pest of the American Legion, headed by Capt. C. A. Davis who accompanied the funeral cortege to Chatfield, where military honors were accorded. Cr.rporal J. R. Clayton, Battery B, 10th Field Artillery, of Camp Pike, Arkansas, accompanied the body to Corsicana. The deceased is survived by his father, two brothers, Fred and Haas Jackson of Ennis, and one sister, Mrs. Dora Whiteley, also of near Ennis, and many other relatives in this county. 07-06-1921 Corsicana Daily News
