Services for Charles M. Lott, 85, of Temple will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with the Rev. Billy Koinm officiating. Burial will follow in Greathouse Cemetery in Temple with military honors. Mr. Lott died Wednesday, March 31, in a local hospital. He was born on June 30, 1924, to Milton Payne and Ora Ella Jay Brown Lott in Milam County near Bryant Station. He attended school in Academy, and later received a bachelor's degree in agriculture and a master's degree in education from Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On Oct. 25, 1945, he married Shirley M. Messer in Temple. He taught school in Holland, Salado, Temple and Belton, and retired from Academy ISD, where he taught agriculture. He was a member of Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Malcolm Lee Lott. Survivors include his wife of Temple; a daughter, Sharlene Lott Hoelscher of Temple; a brother, Richard Lott of Temple; two sisters, Elva Ruth Dooley of Waco and Vivian Stewart of Clifton; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Roof Fund at Heights Baptist Church, 1220 S. 49th St., Temple, 76504. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home
