US ARMY W.W.ll Obit in paper: Elvin Leon Sills Sr., resident of Paris, Tx, died in a local hospital there early Thursday morning. Funeral services were held from the Anderson-Clayton Chapel in Terrell, Tx at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Jacky Newton officiating. Interment was in the Morrow Chapel Cemetery in the Ola Community. Elvin Leon Sills Sr., a son of the late John Sills and Mattie Phillips Sills, (my correction...it should say Minnie Lee Bullock-Sills), was born in Ellis county on March 12, 1912. He grew up in that area and entered the U.S. Army in World War II. Following his discharge, he returned to Ellis county then moved to Waco for 15 years and to Abilene for eight years. He has been a resident of Paris, Tx for the past two weeks. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the VFW of Abilene. His wife, the former Verda Curry, has preceded him in death and he is survived by: three sons, Elvin Leon Sills Jr. of Kaufman, Joseph Lee Sills of Kaufman and Elvin L. Sills of Paris; two daughters, Lona Blanch Reed of Kaufman and Effie Lou Sagissor of Houston; one step-daughter, Glenda Jennings of Kaufman; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Preston Sills of Waxahachie and George W. Sills of Abilene; four sisters, Frances Brewer of Waco, Pauline Price of McGregor, Lona Calloway of Palmer and Mattie Sills of Abilene; a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives. This was sent to me by my great Aunt Effie: Cpl. Elvin L. Sills, son of Mr. J.H. Sills, wife, the former Ada Eldridge, attended Palmer H.S. Trained with the 754th Land Bn. at Ft. Knox, K.Y., 1944. Served in the Philippines and on Luzon, Manila and Panay. Great Grandpa Elvin Leon Sills married my Great Grandma Ada Blanch Eldridge-Sills --March 31, 1928 in Navarro Co., TX His brothers and sisters: Lona Sills-Calloway Minnie Lee Sills-Price Hazel Sills-Brewer Pauline Sills-Price Claudie Mae Sills-Brewer Frances Sills John Preston Sills Prestine Sills (died at birth) George Sills Mattie Lou Sills
