Bio
WAHOO – David L. Zavodny, 56, of Wahoo, died Dec. 13 in Wahoo. Zavodny was born Sept. 29, 1953, to James and Libbie (Mach) Zavodny in David City. He was a graduate of Wahoo Public High School. He entered the United States Army on June 7, 1971 and spent two years in Germany as a medic. He was honorably discharged on June 4, 1973 and got married and had a son, Jimmy, born in 1978. He worked as a construction worker for most of his working years. Recently, he was employed by Capitol Overhead Doors in Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his father and son, Jimmy Zavodny. He is survived by mother; sister, Shirlee Poppe; niece, Missy and her husband, Ryan Hall; great nieces, Riley, Ellee and Lexi Hall, all of Wahoo; and many friends. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo with Pastor Todd Storm officiating. Interment will be at Sunrise Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 4502 and American Legion Post 82. Casket bearers are Larry Cuda, Larry Stuchlik, Bob Kemerling, Rob Koranda, Joe Houska, Larry Veskrna, Mick Anderson and Jim Gooding. Honorary bearers are Ray Maly, Jerry Peterson, Dwayne Fritzinger, Bill Jackson, Joe Schultz, Billy Wondra, Ken Roberts and Dennis Tvrdy. Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Svoboda Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Svoboda Funeral Home of Wahoo is in charge of the arrangements.
