Hazel Bernice Laymance, 81, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010, in Webster, Texas. She was born September 4, 1928, in Drane, Texas to Clarence and Alice Abbott. Hazel was a homemaker who was a great cook and made the best biscuits around. She loved her dogs and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Wilborn Laymance, her son Roger Laymance and two sisters Nell White and Shirley McRae. She is survived by four sons, Elton Hocutt and wife Ruthie of Texas City, Jerry Hocutt and wife Rosie of San Leon, Bernice Laymance of San Leon, and Danny Laymance of La Marque; four daughters, Barbara Smith and husband Don of Ennis, Texas, Glenda Hodges of Texas City, Leta Johnson of Austin and Judy Pace and husband Tim of Texas City; brother, George Abbott; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 24, 2010, from 3-6 p.m., at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park, Hitchcock, TX.
