Bio
Ella Josephine Marek, age 85 of West, passed away early Friday morning, July 18, 1997 at West Rest Haven. A prayer service was at 7 p.m. July 19 at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West by Rev. Don Ketcham. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. July 20 at West Brethren Church in West, with the Rev. Don Ketcham officiating. Burial followed at West Brethren Cemetery near West. Mrs. Marek was born October 7, 1911 in Schulenburg, the daughter of Vaclav and Antonia Hyvl. She married Frank R. Marek on January 8, 1941 in Caldwell. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1996. She was a seamstress, homemaker and housewife. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and dearly loved her grandchildren. She was a member of S.P.J.S.T. #54 in West and the Mutual Aide Society. She was also a member of West Brethren Church where she was a honorary member of the Christian Sisters. She is survived by a son, Gilbert Marek of Abbott; four daughters, Dorothy Veselka of Waco, Georianne Allen of Garland, Joyce Johnson of Highland Village and Jolynn Kasik of Abbott; one brother, Bohus Hyvl of Caldwell; two sisters, Ruth Paul of Caldwell and Toni Schulz of Pensacola, Florida; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were John Engelke, Curtis Schutza, Larry Draper, Jeff Johnson, Brian Jackson and Justin Engelke. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. The family of Ella Josephine Marek would like to thank West Rest Haven for providing a loving and caring home for her in the last years of her life.
