Published in the Athens Review May 18, 1939 E.R. Davis, 82, father of Mrs. Flora Kirkland of Athens, died at the family home near Canton on Friday morning following an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 o'clock at Cool Springs Baptist Church in Van Zandt county, with burial in Cool Springs cemetery. Deceased was born in North Carolina but had been a resident of Texas for many years. Besides Mrs. Kirkland, he is survived by three sons, Joe, Ebb and J.C. Davis, all of Canton and five other daughters as follows: Mrs. Frankie Windham of Ben Wheeler; Mrs. Maggie Burns and Mrs. Effie Tucker, both of Chandler; Mrs. Winnie Pyle of California and Mrs. Edna Pennington of Canton. Also surviving are twenty-three grandchildren. Contributor: Wayne Smith - ∼ From what I can determine, E.R. was married at least twice. He had at least three children before 1910, including Ebb Riley Davis, Jr. (#59334064) He married Annie Bee Clio Duke Thormahlen sometime after 1910 they had two daughters: Willie Wilma Davis (1914) and Audie Jerry Davis (1917).
