Bio

Mildred Maybelle Clowdus Crawford passed away Teusday, June 29, 1999 in Arlington, Texas from cancer related illnesses. She was born May 20, 1920 in Wilson, Okla., where she went to school and resided until her marriage to Jack Crawford on June 22, 1938. Jack and Mildred enjoyed 59 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on April 19, 1998. Mildred lived the majority of her life in Lindsay, Okla., but she also lived in Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Utah, Texas, and other Oklahoma towns through the years as she helped Jack in his oil field and ranching careers. Mildred's interests included all types of card and domino games, bowling, camping, woodworking (especially cabinet making) and needlework. Her plastic canvass creations are in many homes in Oklahoma and Texas. Mildred also did volunteer work at the Lindsay Hospital for many years. Family was especially important to Mildred and she spent the majority of her life being with her childred, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Besided her husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her father, James Clowdus; mohter, Essie Milun Clowdus; brother, Gene Clowdus; sister, Frankie Conner; and daughter, Pattye Wagstaff. She is survived by her son, Mike Crawford of Arlington; five grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; and brothers; Ralph Clowdus of Brookings, Ors., and Kenneth Clowdus of California. Mildred was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lindsay. Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, 1999 at the United Mehtodist Church in Lindsay with Rev. Bill Gentry officiating. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home. Honary pallbearers were Red Davis, Elmer Love, Tex Edzards, and Harry Moore, Jr.. Pallbearers were Bill Cowan, Bill Clemens, Jr., Chris Gentry, Lynne Shoemaker, Paul Thomas, and Roger Davis.
