Richard Roy "Dick" Lilienthal, 64, of Grand Island died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Curran Funeral Chapel. Chaplain Steve Shanno will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Lilienthal was born Aug. 6, 1945, at Grand Island to Roy H. and Elsie M. (Luth) Lilienthal. Survivors of the immediate family include two brothers, Jim Lilienthal of Grand Island and Mike Lilienthal of Grand Island; a sister, Connie Carey of Grand Island. Additional survivors include six nieces and nephews. Dick grew up in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Sr. High in 1963. He served in the U.S. Air Force from March 5, 1964 until his honorable discharge on March 4, 1968. He moved to Pennsylvania with plans to open a men's clothing store but was disabled by an auto accident. He lived at the Nebraska Veterans Home from 1970 to 2005. He moved to the Golden Livingcenter in Fullerton until November of 2009, at which time he moved to Golden Living center Park Place, in Grand Island. Dick was known for being well groomed. He enjoyed being with his family, playing cards, rides in the country, and his '62 Chevy. He was preceded in death by his parents.
