Rev. John Quincy Adams Shaver and Elmira Jane Bolen Shaver along with six of their nine children are buried here in this Cemetery. Two of their young children were buried in the First Shaver Cemetery. Another daughter, Hester Ann (6 Apr 1868-19 Mar1939) married Patrick Thomas Daniel. Hester and P T Daniel took their family to Bartow County, GA, where she died and is buried in the Stovall Cemetery. John Q. A. Shaver served in the Civil War CSA, enrolling at Knoxville, TN on May 29, 1861 and for another 3 yrs on October 1, 1862. He was taken prisoner at the Battle of Chickamauga on September 19, 1863, he was received at military prison, Louisville, KY on October 2, 1863, forwarded to Camp Douglas, Illinois for prisoner exchange, then paroled at Camp Douglas and forwarded for exchange to City Point, Virginia on March 14, 1865. He took the Oath of Allegiance to the United States on April 15, 1865 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. At that time he was described as resident of Rhea Co, TN, fair complexion, light hair, blue eyes and 5 ft 8 in tall. John Q. A. Shaver became ordained as a Baptist Minister and was Pastor of Salem Baptist Church at the time of his death on February 14, 1903.
