Bio

Astride the Old San Antonio Road A History of Burleson County , 1980 edition, page 337. Annie was the daughter of Frank and Rosalie (Supak) Marek. Annie was one of fifteen children born to her parents. According to her family history, she was born on October 18, 1902. Her Texas death record has her birth date recorded as April 18, 1902. Annie and Walter Matejka were wed January 12, 1926. They lived with Annie's parents for two years. They bought 100 acres of land next to the Marek home place in the Tunis community. Walter and Annie had three children. One son and one daughter survived. The middle daughter was a stillborn infant. Annie and Walter ran a store together in Tunis called the Tunis Market. They worked in the store from 1939 to 1949. Annie stayed at home and took care of her family while Walter worked for the Texas Highway Department in Caldwell. Annie passed away on December 5, 1975 and is buried in the New Tabor Cemetery.
