Lucian B. Gilbreth , 84, of Route 3, Box 294, Clyde died Sunday, April 28, 1991 in an Abilene hospital. Services were Tuesday, April 30 at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S.. Highway 277 South with the Rev. Lynn Moore and Price Mathieson both officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Memorial Park. Mr. Gilbreth was born in Potosi where, he also graduated from high school. He was a basketball player on the school's early-day basketball team when the games were played on outdoor courts. He graduated from Draughon's Business College in Abilene and became a butcher and grocer, working for a number of local establishments. During World War II, he worked at the Camp Barkeley [now Dyess AFB] commissary and boarded families of servicemen at his Home. In 1954, he opened the Dash-Inn Cafe and Grocery Store in Tye where he was an active civic leader, spearheading community developments including the city water line, streets and Little League baseball program. Mr. Gilbreth was a member of the Independent Grocers Association and had served as president of the Tye Lions Club, which he helped charter. He also served as president of the Tye Independent School District Board. He moved to Clyde after his retirement in 1969. He was a member of the Clyde United Methodist Church. He was the widower of his first wife, Pauline Page Gilbreth. Survivors include his wife, Ina L. Gilbreth of Clyde; four daughters, Billie J. Luther of Abilene, Jo Ann Yancy of Cedar Creek Lake in Mabank, Linda K. McIlhaney of Albuquerque, N.M., Pamela Gilbreth Watkins of of Buffalo Gap; two sons, James David Gilbreth of Cochiti Lake.
