Published in The Gazette on March 6, 2010 - Colorado Springs, CO - Evangeline Marie Trevethan, age 93, passed away on February 28, 2010 in Vancouver, Washington. Evangeline was born on December 17, 1916 in Rogers, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Mary (Smahel) Styskal. She grew up and attended school in Schuyler and graduated from high school there in 1934. She moved to Colorado Springs and worked both in photography and for the War Department working on B29 Airplanes as a driller. She married Theodore Trevethan on April 28, 1938. They moved to Kimball, Nebraska in 1947 and farmed southwest of town. Evangeline continued working and was employed as a secretary for the Veterans Service Office in Kimball for 20 years. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was an active member in the Kimball V.F.W. Auxiliary Post No. 2243, Midway Club and Extension Club. Evangeline is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and by her six sisters; Wylma Shonka, Irene Aden, Marie Shupe, Ruby Jackson, Helen Morris and Ruth Styskal. Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Blunt Mortuary Chapel, 2229 W. Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the V.F.W. in Kimball, NE.
