Bohumil "Barney" Charles Oborny, 82, died March 4, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born July 27, 1927, in Schuyler, Neb., the son of Karel and Anna Lutovsky Oborny. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as an electronic technician and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. On June 10, 1952, he married Doris Elsie Severa in Leigh, Neb. She died Dec. 7, 2007. Survivors include: two sons, Jerome and wife Linda, and Michael and wife Mary; four daughters, Beverly Johnson and husband Roger, Teresa Doerksen and husband Brian, Christine Horton and husband David, and Denise Rutt and husband James; and 12 grandchildren, Dr. Rogena Johnson, Jason Johnson, Jennifer Layton, Dr. Jeremy Oborny, Julie Oborny, Jared Oborny, Martin Doerksen, Bethany Doerksen-Klopp, Amy Horton, Madison Horton, Taryn Oborny and honorary daughter, Susan Puls. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Father Charles Oborny, Father Francis Oborny, John, Joseph, Adolf, Steve and Rudolph Oborny, and three sisters, Anna Humlicek, Josephine Oborny and Mary Jira. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to the time of the rosary Sunday at the funeral home. A second rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson. Funeral Mass will follow the rosary Monday at the church, with Fathers Nicholas Voelker, Rudy Oborny, Paul Oborny and Henry Baxa presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Memorials may be sent to Trinity Catholic High School or St. Teresa Catholic Church Altar Society, both in care of the funeral home. (From Hutchnews)
