Bio
Father Oborny attended grade school in rural Colfax County and at St. Wenceslaus grade school in Dodge, Nebraska, graduating in 1915. He attended St. Procopius High School and Seminary in 1917 and was ordained on May 9, 1929 by Bishop Joseph Rummel (Omaha Diocese). He was assistant priest at St. Wenceslaus parish in Omaha, Nebraska and taught the Czech language at Creighton University. He also had a weekly radio show on WAAW with the Czech Club Orchestra. He was assigned to Holy Trinity Church in Heun, Nebraska in 1931 where he served until his transfer to St. Wenceslaus in Dodge, Nebraska in 1937. During his tenure at Dodge, he was the chief architect and contractor for the expansion onto the grade school (which included a convent for the sisters and additional classrooms) in 1950. He also oversaw the building of a new brick church for the parish in 1956. He continued at St. Wenceslaus until his retirement in 1973.
