Bio

Robert D. Osborn passed away at home May 24, 2001 from heart failure. He was born Feb 6, 1930 in Glendale, CA. to Dern and Alene Osborn. He was the oldest of three brothers. He attended Beaver County schools graduating from Beaver High as student body president. After high school he attended college in Cedar City. He married Iris Griffith Aug 11, 1950. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. The are the parents of two daughters and four sons. He went with the Utah National Guard to Korea in 1951 where he received a battlefield com-mission to First Lt. Upon returning from Korea, he had a long distinguished military career retiring as a Lt. Col. He was well respected for his community service. He helped organize what is now the Springville Little League Football. He also helped bring the WBBA Little League World Series to Springville in 1967. He loved serving on youth committees in both Rotary and Elks club. He was Elk of the Year. He is survived by his wife of 50 years; children, Paula (Paul), St. Paul, MN, Greg (Kristine), Genola, Talene, Santa Fe, NM, Russell (Julie), Elk Ridge, Jeff (Brenda), Springville, Mike (Michell), Mapelton; 18 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchil-dren; two brothers, J.D., Melvin; and a mother-in-law, Ronella Griffiths, all of Beaver. He was preceded in death by a grandson. Services will be May 29, 11 am in the Kolob West LDS Stake Center. A viewing will be Mon. May 28, 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment, Camp Williams Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Elks or Rotary Youth Scholarship fund. Published by Desert News May 27, 2001
