Marshall Democrat-News - February 23, 2009 (Mon) Martha Parks Brown, 92, of Marshall, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, in Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Fitzgibbon Hospital Auxiliary or Missouri Valley College. Born Sept. 28, 1916, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late George A. Parks and Lena Ida Veatch Parks. On June 8, 1940, she married C. Edwin Brown, who preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1978. She was a graduate of Marshall High School, attended Missouri Valley College and was a school teacher in rural Saline County schools for several years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, past regent and 50-year member of Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of Chapter GM of the PEO Sisterhood and Fitzgibbon Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include one daughter, Ann Brown McCorkle and her husband, David, of Holts Summit; one son, George E. Brown and his wife, Nancy, of rural Marshall; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Ruth Hanna of Marshall. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son in infancy
