ARDYCE LYLE BIRMINGHAM , beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away August 13, 2009 with loved ones present. Born May 14, 1942, to Roland and Merle Birmingham in Dallas, Texas, Ardyce was as unique as his name. He grew up in Brownwood, Texas where he said he had the best childhood anyone could have. He joined the Army in 1959 and was in the 101st Airborne and the Fort Campbell Honor Guard. Some of his best memories were of that time, when he traveled to the Far East and all over the United States. He married Glenda Hudson in 1961 and they had our precious daughter, Tracy. April 1967 Ardyce married Mary Gardner; he was the love of her life. He took such good care of her and all of their pups. Ardyce worked for AD Lang before becoming a licensed pilot and became a Crop Duster. That was a fun and exciting time in his life. Moving back to Houston he worked again for AD Lang before working as a mechanic for Continental Airlines. He retired in 2004. Ardyce's interests were music, movies, motorcycles and airplanes. He had a love of animals and was always helping people in need. Ardyce is survived by his wife Mary; his daughter Tracy and husband Russell Caraway; Russell's 3 sons, Cody, Troy, Josh and their families; three granddaughters, Ashley, Chelsy and Shelby; three great-grandchildren; a sister, LuCretia and husband JO Thompson of Brownwood; a brother Ben also of Brownwood; a sister-in-law Meghan West; four nephews, John, James Roland, Jim and Jason; a niece Heather; special aunts, Pansy Todd and Earlene Holcomb and husband James Holcomb; many special cousins and special friends; also, his two beloved pups, Casey and Kelly. Special thanks for all the prayers from friends and strangers far and wide, the staff at MD Anderson, to LuCretia for being the best sister possible and always being with Ardyce during his illnesses. Mary will miss Ardyce all the days of her life and she gives thanks for the wonderful 42 years they had. A graveside service will be held August 22nd, at 3:00pm at Jenkins Springs Cemetery in Early, Texas.
