Mrs. Opal Lee Norvell, 89, of Whitesboro, Oklahoma passed away , Saturday, February 6th, 2010 at Talihina Manor Nursing Home, Talihina, Oklahoma. Mrs. Norvell was born in Muse, Oklahoma on April 18, 1920, the daughter of the late Oscar and Pearl (Smith) Rose. She was a member of Whitesboro Baptist Church Whitesboro, Oklahoma. She enjoyed being a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed quilting , gardening and trapping She was a weather monitor for several years for the Quachita National Forest .She loved playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the widow of Thurman Eugene Norvell. They were married in Pine Valley on October 9, 1937. She was preceded in death by her parents,Oscar and Pearl Rose, husband; Thurman Norvell, three brothers; Ernie, Ralph and Elmer Rose, two sisters; Gladys James and Audrey Juarez. She is survived by two sons; Herman and Sue Norvell and Eugene and Carolyn Norvell, of Whitesboro, five grandchildren; Kellie and Chip Hill of New Jersey,Glenn and Alicia Norvell of Midwest City,Oklahoma, Christie and Mark Horstman of Muse, Gina Hearn and Jerrie James of Talihina, two sisters; Norma and Kenneth Fields of Wetumka, Jo and Raymond Dean Griffith of Talihina, brother; Kenneth and Dorothy Rose of Muse, a special friend; our angel Shirley Rainwater of Whitesboro, and an adopted sister; Jahala Williams of Talihina. Pallbearers will be Justin Rose, Jerod Rose, Shane Griffith, Kyle Griffith, Westley Baugh and Christopher Horstman. Honorary pallbears; Mackey Frazier, Odis Ray Frazier, Mark Rose, Gary Rose, Larry Rose, Ronnie Rose, Randy Fields, Mike Fields, John Jefferson Mark Horstman. Services will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Whitesboro Baptist Church with Brother Alvin Branscum, Brother Mark Cook and Brother Brent Smith officiating.
