Mark Alvin Smith, 53, of Lipan, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007 in Bay Minette, Ala. Memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Lipan. Mark was born July 9, 1953 in Seymour to Billy Sam and Norma Jean Pewitt Smith. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Marine Corp for 11 years. He was a truck driver and loved animals. His father and a brother, Larry Smith, preceded him in death. Survivors are his mother and husband, Jean and Chuck Herod of Granbury; stepmother, Grace Smith of Lipan; brothers and wives, David and Laura Smith of Granbury and Paul and Shelia Smith of Weatherford; sister and husband, Mary and Ron Dewy of Dallas; nephew and nieces. Arrangements are by Wiley Chapel in Lipan. From the Hood County News
