Bio

James Harrison Norrell, 92, of Paris, formerly of Powderly, died at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998, at McCuistion Medical Center. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at Powderly United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home handling the arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Norrell was born Nov. 23, 1905 in the Cookville community of Titus County to N.H. "Bud" and Della Bell Norrell. He attended Lamar County schools and spent much of his early life in the Hopewell community. He was a retired dairyman and stockman and was a member of Powderly United Methodist Church. He married Beatrice Bailey in 1940 in Paris. Surviving are his wife, Beatrice; son, and wife of Powderly; daughter, and husband of Paris; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Cantrell in 1976 and by four brothers and three sisters.
