Jessie Elis Hamilton, 92, died Saturday, January 30, 2010, in an Abilene hospital. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in Buffalo Gap Cemetery, with Stephen Johnson officiating, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. Elis was born May 17, 1917, to Robert Kendal and Lucy Jane Adams Davis, in Crystal City. She married Robert V. Hamilton July 2, 1936, in Crystal City. She served with her husband in Christian ministry in Idaho and Colorado as well as many areas in Texas including Buffalo Gap Church of Christ. They worked in Lubbock Children's Home for three years prior to moving to Buffalo Gap in 1981. In 1998, she moved to Abilene. She was a member of Buffalo Gap Church of Christ. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; one brother and one sister. Survivors include one son, James P. Hamilton and wife Dhipali of Abilene; one daughter , Judy Walton and husband Bill of Abilene; four grandchildren, Melanie J. Moore of Dallas, Robert Thomas Hamilton of Mineral Wells, Anthony Alan Walton of Seattle, Washington, and Hilary Elise Walton of Abilene; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
