William James "Bill" Scofield, 68, of Cut Bank, Mont., died of heart failure Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at Taber, Alberta, Canada. He was born June 19, 1941, in Burwell, Neb., to Aubry and Emma (Mach) Scofield. In 1961, he married Mary Louise Wunderlich. They divorced. On April 1, 1995, he married Judy Swick in Cut Bank. Survivors are: his wife; daughters, Cindy Pearson and her husband, Bill, of Broken Bow, Neb., Barb Langhorst and her husband, Russ, of Aurora, Colo., and Janet Luthje and her husband, Chuck, of Arcadia, Neb.; stepdaughter, Stephanie Moran and her husband, Mike, of Cut Bank; brother, Eugene Scofield of Burwell; sister, Isla Lindsey of Burwell; and grandchildren, Hans, Chesney, Luke, Seth, Courtny and Carter. He leaves behind his dog, Sara. Bill grew up on a farm at Burwell. During high school, he excelled in football and loved to play the tuba. He graduated from Burwell High School in 1959. Bill moved to Missoula and worked in a sawmill before moving to Cut Bank in 1985. Bill operated his own trucking business in Cut Bank for a time, D&T Trucking (Dirty & Tired). He then drove for Cenex and for Flying J. For the past 10 years, he drove trucks for Harvie Hot Shot, hauling oil field equipment and moving drilling rigs. Bill was a member of the Cut Bank Moose Lodge and the Legion. He enjoyed working, fishing, boating, camping and being with friends and family. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eldon and Ed Scofield; and stepson, Brandon Firman. Inurnment was in the Highland Cemetery in Havre, Mont.
