BURWELL — Eugene Elmer "Gene" Scofield, 76, of Burwell died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at the University Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Burwell. Inurnment will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery. Pastor Dennis Davenport will officiate. Hitchcock Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Scofield was born July 2, 1937, at home in Garfield County to Aubry G. and Emma (Mach) Scofield. He married Pauline A. Crank on Aug. 1, 1964, in West Lafayette, Ind. She preceded him in death. He is survived by a sister, Isla Lindsey of Burwell.
