*Two die of pneumonia - Detroit Herald, 8 Nov. 1918 - There has been a singular co-incident in the case of Shirley Bell and Gayland Lassiter. Both were new employees of the T. & P. Railroad at the Detroit station. Both were taken ill and went home the same day and both died the same night - Mr. Bell early Thursday night and Mr. Lassiter at the end of the night. Both were buried Friday afternoon, Mr. Bell at the Detroit Cemetery and Mr. Lassiter at Bethel Cemetery. Mr. Bell leaves a wife and baby. Mr. Lassiter is survived by a wife and two children, all of whom are sick, and it is feared the little ones have pneumonia also. Both Mr. Bell and Mr. Lassiter were men in the prime of life, full of energy and industry, exemplary in their habits and useful in their lives. Each leave a host of friends to join their grief with that of the bereft relatives. (Mr. Lassiter is a relative of L. F. Lassiter, who resides east of Town, added by Deport paper).
