Husband of Lois Cordenia Putman Wood Married 07/14/1941 Husband of Della Pearl Shelton Married 06/25/1991 Husband of Erma Barnhill Married 08/19/2002 Robert Weldon Wood (February 9, 1921 - September 20, 2011) Robert Weldon Wood passed away, at the age of 91. Weldon was the son of Luther and Eva Gann Wood; however he was raised by an aunt and uncle, Ed and Virgie Berry due to the death of his mother when he was nine months old. Weldon was born on February 9, 1921, in Navarro, County, Texas. He went to school in Navarro Mills and Blooming Grove, which were both in Navarro, County near Dawson, Texas. He then went into the Navy for a short period of time. After returning home, he went into farming in Navarro Co., moving to Stamford in 1953. He farmed there until retiring in 1999. He married Cordenia Putman on July 14, 1941, and they had three children: Joyce, Rita, and Glenn Wood. He was a faithful member of the Baptist church in Navarro Mills and then of Stamford, being a member of Paint Creek Baptist Church, Central Baptist Church, and then Trinity Baptist Church of Sweetwater. Cordenia passed away on April 13, 1990, and he then married Della Pearl Shelton on June 25, 1991. She passed away on October 18, 2001. On August 19, 2002, he married Erma Barnhill of Sweetwater, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, three brothers, one sister, and also two wives. He is survived by his wife Erma Barnhill; three children: Joyce and husband Kenneth Carlton of Stamford; Rita Cockerell of Lubbock; Glen and Selena Wood of Lovington, New Mexico; Stepchildren: Deverle Kennedy of Lubbock; Meitizie and Gary Moore of Amarillo; step-daughters-in-law: Pam Kennedy of Plainview; Darla Curry and husband Lanny of the Woodlands, and Garlyn Shelton and husband La Juan of Temple. He had seven Grandchildren, several Step-grandchildren; many, many Great grandchildren, and also Great, great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation at McCoy Funeral Home on Thursday, September 22, 2011, from 6 to 7 P.M. Services will be on Friday, September 23, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at McCoy Chapel of Memories, with Rev. Ward Hayes officiating. Interment will be at Spring Creek Cemetery near Avoca, Texas. Pallbearers will be his Grandsons: Kevin Carlton, Michael Huggins, Cris Cockerell, Wesley Cockerell, Stewart Wood and Jody Wood. The family requests that memorials be made to Alzheimers research or one's favorite charity.
