Bio

Paul Gregorski Local Farmer Killed Sunday Paul Gregorski, a farmer 3 miles southwest of Wolbach, met with a tragic death Sunday. He was dragged and kicked to death by a horse he was leading. His body was found by Mr. and Mrs. Verle McCaslin of Scotia Sunday afternoon. One of Gregorski's horses had left the place Saturday night and he rode another horse looking for the animal. He had found the other horse and it is supposed that he was leading this horse when the accident occurred. Just what caused the tragedy is not certain. Sheriff Dan Schenck of Howard County discovered a freshly filled pipe that had not been lighted, so it is supposed that he tied the lead line around his waist while filling his pipe and the horse became frightened. The McCaslins who discovered the body along the road, came to Wolbach and reported the accident to Andy Nelson, who called Sheriff Schenck. Sheriff Schenck said that he had appently been dragged and kicked from four to five hours before the horse broke loose. His body was taken to Ord, where funeral services were held, with burial in Burwell. Mr. Gregorski is survived by his wife, four children, his mother and several brothers and sisters all of whom reside at Ord. Paul Gregorski moved to the farm here this spring. He was living here alone.---A public auction to settle the estate of the late Paul Gregorski will be held at the farm located 1 mile west and 2 miles south of Wolbach on saturday, August 4. The starting time of the sale will be 1:30. Wolbach Messenger, August 2, 1951, page 1, Transcribed by Linda Berney Husband of Rosetta Murphy. Paul and most of his siblings changed the spelling of their last name.
