FUNERAL SERVICES FOR HENRY H DAVIS WERE CONDUCTED SAT Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church in Burwell, Sat afternoon Sept 7th for Henry H Davis, who died late Sat night, Aug 31st, at McAllister, Mont. Mr Dean Donner, minister, officiated. The selections, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" , "In the Garden", and "Beyond the Sunset" were sung by Dorene Goehring, Dorothy Lee, Margaret Anderson and Louise Lakin. Sally Edghill accompanist. Pallbearers were James Clabaugh, Tony Hovorka, Vern Donner, Bud Hughes, Delbert Pearson , Otto Elsik. Interment was made in Banner Cemetery Burwell Henry Harrison Davis was born to Mary D Davis and George Washington Davis in Richardson Co, Nebr Aug 2,1888 and departed this life at McAllister, Mont Aug 31,1963 at the age of 75 years 29 days. In the year of 1904 he came with his parents, brothers and sisters to Garfield Co, Nebr, where he helped his parents prove up on a homestead 10 miles northeast of Burwell. In l1911 he filed on a homestead for himself 6 miles northeast of his parent's home. He did his own housekeeping there until his marriage to Nellie Mildred Hetfield on Mar 19,1913. To this union 5 daughters were born: Mildred Faye, Merle Arlene, Doris May, Lela Ione, Ermagene Elaine. Merle and Lela died in early childhood. Henry's wife preceded him in death Dec 17,1950 In the early part of their marriage, he and his wife moved by covered wagon to Kennebec, SD and spent approximately 3 years there before returning to Burwell, where they resided until 1943. At this time they moved to Manhattan, Mont. They lived there until the early fall of 1950, at which time they returned to Burwell. After the passing of his wife in Dec of 1950 he made his home for various periods of time with his daughters, both in Mont and Nebr. Henry was a good neighbor and friend to all who knew him.. He was willing to aid those in need of help, or those in distress. His efforts for others are remembered by those who knew him. Those who are left to mourn his demise are his daughters, Faye Freeland, Helena, Mont, Ermagene Walker, Helena, Mont, Doris Coleman and his son in law, Lloyd Coleman, McAllister, Mont, the couple with whom he made his home at the time of his departure. There are also left to mourn his absence, 7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, all of Montana. His 4 brothers, Edd of Sioux City, Ia, Guy of Payette, Ida George of Burwell Alvin of Burwell 2 sisters, Mrs Della Peckham of San Geronimo, Cal Mrs Carrie Howell of Gordon, Nebr and a host of distant relatives and friends. Those of his immediate relatives who preceded him in death are his parents, his brothers, Will, Dewey, and James, also 3 sisters, Mrs Sarah Cook, Mary Freeman, Maude Scofield.
