Bio
Centurion Victoria "Vic" Lewandowski, 103, of Loup City died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Mrs. Lewandowski was born Oct. 13, 1906, east of Loup City on the family homestead to Egnatz and Kathryn (Sydzyik) Janulewicz. On June 21, 1931, she married Floyd Lewandowski at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Marion, and a daughter, Marie. Survivors of the immediate family include a daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Anthony P. Turel Jr., M.D. of Danville, Pa. Additional survivors include three granddaughters, Debra Curlo of Grant, Michele Vinyard of Tracy, Calif., Victoria Wiktor of Danville, Pa.; eight great-grandchildren:, Jeremy Curlo of Garden City, Kan., Jessica Curlo of Lincoln, Lee Ann, Ashlee and Haleigh Vinyard of Tracy, Gavin, Hadley and Aiden Wiktor of Danville; a great-great-grandson, Jamie Curlo of Hays, Kan. She attended rural school east of Loup City through the 8th grade. She worked with her husband in his trucking business in 1934, at Obermiller's Packing Company, Loup City, and at the egg factory in Ravenna. For many years, she worked in the kitchen at Sacred Heart Hospital, retiring at age 80. For the last 10 years she resided at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Victoria was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church and was active in the Sodality, Rosary and Altar Societies. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening both vegetables and flowers. Her home was the site of many family gatherings and card parties. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Michael Carpenter; sisters, Clara Janulewicz and Eleanor Damratowski, and 11 brothers, Stanley, Alozy, Floyd, Frank, Joseph, Ignatz, Anton, Steven, Harry, Daniel and Ben Janulewicz.
