Bio

Hattie Patak Raper, 91 of Ennis, passed away on November 7, 2007, at Ennis Care Center. She was born in Ennis on January 12, 1916 to Frank and Mary (Pospisil) Patak, attended school in Ennis and Prague, Oklahoma and married Harold Raper from Prague in 1942. She lived most of her married life in California. After the death of her husband, she became co-owner of Grimes-Raper Family Shoes in Goleta, California. In the early 1970's, Grimes-Raper Family Shoes relocated to Ennis. She remained co-owner until her retirement in the early 1990's. Hattie is survived by three sisters, Leda Zapletal of Ennis, Mary Grimes of Ennis and Rosie Smith of Dallas; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers; Jerry Patak and Henry Patak. Mass of the Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, November 12, 2007 at St. John Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Great nephews will serve as pallbearers: Danny Zapletal, Ted Zapletal, Blake Zapletal, Russell Smith, David Sweezey, Matthew Helm. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Zapletal, John Zapletal, Clay Zapletal and Michael Helm.
