Bio
Leda Zapletal, age 93, of Ennis passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Ennis Regional Medical Center. She was born in Ennis on September 19, 1914 to Frank and Mary (Pospisil) Patak, attended school in Garrett and Laneview and married Willie Zapletal from Ennis on Nov.12, 1933. Leda lived in the Ennis area except from 1924 to 1942 when her family moved to Prague, Oklahoma. She also lived briefly in Dallas in the early 1930's. She was a homemaker while her family farmed until 1958 and she subsequently worked at Donovan-Galvani as a seamstress until her retirement in the early 1980's. More than any job, Leda's calling in life was providing and caring for her loved ones. She touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy reminding us all of the value and importance of family. Leda is survived by two sons and their wives, Raymond and Pat Zapletal and Fred and Judy Zapletal, all of Ennis; daughter-in-law Betty Zapletal of Carthage, Missouri; her sister, Mary Grimes of Ennis and her sister, Rosie Smith of Dallas; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Henry Zapletal; her parents; her sister, Hattie Raper; two brothers, Jerry Patak and Henry Patak and great grandson Michael Zapletal. Mass of the Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. John Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery.
