An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum", Wednesday, July 2, 1997: "Mary Alice Pederson, 94, formerly of Gatesville, died June 26 in a New Baunfels nursing home. Graveside services were held Saturday at Restland Cemetery n Gatesville. Mrs. Pederson was born Jan. 23,1903, in Crawford to the late Will and Jessie (Edwards) Whitlock. She was reared and attended school in Crawford and Morgan. After her marriage to Olaf "Pete" Pederson, they resided in Gatesville,Temple, and Brownwood. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21,1970. She then moved to New Baunfels in 1971. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was also preceded in death by a son, Carl (Jack) Pederson, in 1971. Survivors include two sons, J.H. (James) Pederson of Kingsville and William N. (Bill) Pederson of Houston; a sister, Leora Michaels of Waco; one brother, Bennett Whitlock of Whitney; eight grandchildren; and numerous great- and greatgreat-grandchildren."
