An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum", Thursday, June 18, 1970: Funeral services for Mrs. W. J. Parrish of Copperas Cove were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church of Copperas Cove. Rev. Elmer Whitehead officiated, and burial was in Restland Cemetery in GatesVille. Mrs. Parrish died Tuesday in a Killeen hospital. She was 80. Mrs. Parrish was born April 23, 1890, in Statesville, N. C. She was married in 1908 to W. J. Parrish in Coryell City. He died in 1962. Mrs. Parrish had lived in Copperas Cove since 1965. Surviving are one son, Bill Parrish of Copperas Cove; two daughters, Mrs. Polly Traweek and Mrs. Joy Fletcher, both of Copperas Cove; two brothers, Johnny Mayberry and Ted Mayberry, both of Flat; a sister, Mrs. John Blohm of Bellaire; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers for Mrs. Parrish's funeral were Ruben Lambert, L.L. Ledger, George Leonard, T.L. Thomas, Troy Donnell, and Luke Austin.
