An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, February 1, 1990: Mrs. Earl (Lola) Sumerford, 83, of Kerrville died Jan. 28 in the Kerrville State Hospital. Services were held Jan. 30 in Scott's Funeral Home Chapel with Loyd Hall officiating. Burial was in the Restland Cemetery. Born Nov. 19, 1906 in Sommervell County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Pauline Woodard. She married Earl Sumerford July 18, 1926 in Hamilton. He preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1973. They made their home in Oglesby for 11 years moving to the Purmela community in 1941. They moved to Gatesville in 1973. She was a homemaker and a long-time member of the Gatesville Church of Christ. Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Earline) Manning of Waco and Mrs. Bob (Jo Kathryn) Ebeling of Kerrville; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Lawson of Gatesville; one brother, Bill Woodard of Cleburne; five granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers at the funeral were Amon Hale, Dennis Taylor, Bill Blanchard, J.T. Bryant, Jack Wicker, Bill Bowlin and Buford Mitchell.
