An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Monday, November 24, 1986: Clyde Duane Sherwood, 59, of Gatesville died Nov. 15 at Coryell Memorial Hospital. Graveside services with military honors were held Nov. 18 at Restland Cemetery with Rev. David Crosby officiating. Born May 10, 1926 in Coryell County, he was the son of the late J.B. and Stella Sherwood. He married Janet Williams Nov. 23, 1968 in New Waverly. He was a disabled veteran from the Marine Corp. He was a Baptist. He and his wife returned to Gatesville from Caldwell four years ago. Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Tommy Duane Sherwood of Fort Worth and Jacky Duane Sherwood of New Mexico; three daughters, Linda Williams of Fort Worth, Brenda Sherwood of New Mexico and Glenda Sherwood of New Mexico; three sisters, Winnie Love of Winnsboro, Ida Hill of Flat and Mable DeLord of Flat; three brothers, Meade Sherwood of Stephenville, Joe Sherwood of Temple and Lenroy Sherwood of Waco; and nine grandchildren. Pallbearers at the funeral were Andy Hill, Tommy DeLord, Dale Beggs, Matt Simpson, Glen White, Joshua Simpson and George Hawkins.
