An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Wednesday, February 11, 2004: Mable Ann DeLord, 70, of Leon Junction died Feb. 3 at her residence. Funeral services were held Friday at First Baptist Church in Flat with Blake Kimbrough officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery. Mrs. DeLord was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Coryell County, the daughter of the late J.B. and Stella Sherwood. She was raised around the Flat and Mound communities. On Aug. 9, 1948, she married Thomas W. DeLord. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Flat. Survivors include her husband, Thomas W. DeLord; sons, Tommy R. DeLord of Flat, Terry P. DeLord of Richmond and Michael P. DeLord of Leon Junction; daughter, Brenda D. White of Leon Junction; brothers, Len Roy Sherwood of Hewitt and Marvin Joe Sherwood of Marlin; sisters, Ida Mae Hill of Flat and Winnie Love of Winnsboro; seven grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Flat or VistaCare Hospice.
