An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, April 11, 1974: Mrs. Oby Lee Green, 66, of Gatesville died of an apparent heart attack Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joy Ruff, of Rt 1, Waco. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Scott's Funeral Home chapel and were conducted by Rev. Joe Broadway. Burial was in Restland Cemetery. Mrs. Green was born Velma Vaunee Choat in Gatesville on Jan. 8. 1908, and lived in Coryell County most of her life. She was married to O. L. Green on May 11, 1924. He died in 1967. Mrs. Green was a Baptist. She had resided in Gatesville the last 20 years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joy Ruff and Mrs. Betty Moore, both of Waco; one son, Rodger Green of Gatesville; a brother, Oscar Choat pf Grants, N. M.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
