An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, August 13, 1987: Oscar D. Choat, 70, of Grants, New Mexico died Aug. 2 in Grants. Services were held Aug. 5 at Grants Mortuary in Grants with Rev. Jack Little officiating. Graveside services were held Aug. 8 in Restland Cemetery in Gatesville under the direction of the Masonic Lodge. Born Nov. 10, 1916 in Ater, he married Annie C. Arant June 3, 1939 in Brownwood. He was a retired maintenance man. He had been a resident of Grants since 1959. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard Choat and Don Choat and one grandson, Mike Choat.
