An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Funeral services for O. K. Brown, Gatesville real estate dealer and churchman, were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church. Mr. Brown, 52, died of a heart ailment early Monday in the local hospital. He had been stricken with a severe heart attack 18 days earlier, and had been in critical condition since. Rev. S. E. Tullock, assisted by Rev. Sam McNeill and Rev. Joe Cranfill, conducted the funeral services. Burial was in Restland Cemetery with Scott's in charge and Price Bauman, L. D. Meeks, Elmo Washburn, Clayton Powell, J. M. Price Jr. and Frank Cummings serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of the First Baptist Church, Dr. 0. W. Lowrey, Floyd Zeigler, Ernest Cummings, Evan J. Smith and John Gilmer. Mr. Brown gave much of his time to church work. He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church and one of its most faithful and active laymen. He had held several offices in church organizations, including that of Sunday School superintendent. Much of his service in the church field was done quietly behind the scenes and escaping public notice. Born and reared in Indian Gap, Mr. Brown was married to Miss Edith Jaynes June 20, 1937. They resided in Valley Mills and Pidcoke before moving to Gatesville in 1942. Mr. Brown was a barber before going into the real estate business in 1948. Surviving are his wife and two sisters, Mrs. J. C. Woodard of Big Spring and Mrs. Naomi Hoffman of Fort Worth.
