Former Resident Electrocuted _________________________ Roy Cross Killed At Savanna, Ill; Funeral Here Sunday Afternoon _______________________ A former Superior young man, Roy Cross, 22, was electrocuted at Savanna, Illinois, Wednesday, July 29, at 2 pm. Mr Cross was employed by the Superior Floral Co., for two years and about five months at the Roder IGA Store in Superior. The family left here about a year ago. He was flying a model airplane, when the wire with which the plane was controlled came in contact with a 13,000-volt electric line and he was killed almost instantly. The Cross family had just moved to Savanna where he was employed as a telegrapher on the Burlington. After leaving Superior they moved to Aurora, Illinois, and he worked in the Union Station at Chicago, commuting to his work each day. Born at Haddam, Kansas, he was a graduate of Haddam High School, and was married to Carol Hoskins of Guide Rock, on July 3, 1955. He is survived by his wife, Carol, three children, Eddie 3, Mike 13 months and Karen, 8 weeks; his mother, Mrs Elizabeth Cross of Haddam, Kansas; sister, Mrs Don Skipton of Mahaska, Kansas, and half brother, John Keller of Haddam. The funeral service was held at the Megrue Funeral Home Sunday with Rev Robert G Granger of Rock Port, Missouri, officiating. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery (sic).
