Robert L. "Bob" Brodine, age 83, of Findlay, died at 10:20 p.m. on December 23, 2009 at The Heritage. Bob was born on December 17, 1926 to the late Elmer and Hazel (Owen) Brodine in Sargent, Nebraska. He married Virginia L. Wagner on May 6, 1944 and she preceded him in death. He is survived by five children: Sonia (Lee) Brodine-Kreider of Clayton, OH, Gary (Linda) Brodine of Findlay, OH, Kevin Brodine of Toledo, OH, Tina Hailey of Findlay, OH, and Lisa (Nick) Montiel of Findlay, OH; ten grandchildren: Noel (Lisa) Hazen, Chad (Tania) Hazen, Erin (Joey) Metz, Kim Marie Mitchell, Brent Brodine, Laura Brodine, Collin (Tricia) Brodine, Sara Spitler, Adam Montiel, and Emily Montiel; three step-grandchildren: Mark and Scott Kreider and Dawn Reens; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother: Floyd Brodine of Filer, ID; and sister Mary Lowe of Filer, ID; and a sister-in-law: Patricia Wagner (Rex) McCartney of Findlay, OH. Bob was also preceded in death by three brothers: Marvin, Donnie, and Lloyd "Gene" Brodine. Bob worked at Findlay Mantle and Tile for 25 years and then retired from Ball Metal after 17 years of service. Bob served his country in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Mullany in the Pacific Theater. He has been a member of the American Legion since 1960 and a charter member of Christ Church United Methodist. He enjoyed golfing, tending to his yard, and bowling. He served many years as Secretary of Sportsman #2 and Ball Metal Bowling Leagues. Bob was also an avid and loyal fan of the Celtics, Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers. Graveside services will be held at Benton Ridge Cemetery on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Trevor Wright officiating. Full military rites will be performed by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
