Marvin L. Brodine April 8, 1925 - February 16, 2008 Marvin L. Brodine, 82, passed away February 16, 2008 at his home in Grand Junction, CO. Marvin was born April 8, 1925 in Minatare, Nebraska from the union of Elmer and Hazel Brodine. He grew up in Custer County and attended elementary schools there. In 1943, his family moved to Burwell, Nebraska and he graduated from high school in 1943. The same year, Marvin enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Pacific theater of operations and received an honorable discharge in January, 1946 at the end of WW II. On September 29, 1943, he married his childhood sweetheart, Thelma V. Brodine in Twin Falls, Idaho. Marvin and Thelma lived in Grand Junction for 30 years and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2005. Marvin was an avid student of the Bible and loved his Lord. In Twin Falls, ID he served in several pastoral capacities. He was a Sunday School and Bible teacher at various churches in Grand Junction, CO. Until his health failed, he had served as pastor and teacher for 40 years. He dearly loved music, playing the organ and keyboards at home and Church. His hobbies included collecting things of interest to him and flower gardening. Marvin is survived by daughter Carolyn Tomacelli and son-in-law Stephen Tomacelli of San Marcos, CA; son Ronald Brodine and daughter-in-law Vivian Brodine of Grand Junction, CO; daughter Twila Brown and son-in-law Richard Brown of Grand Junction, CO; son Steven Brodine of Palisade, CO; one brother Robert Brodine of Findley, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife Thelma; parents and two brothers Lloyd and Donnie Brodine. Visitation will be held from 2 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Martin Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2008 at Martin Mortuary with the Reverend David Crowley officiating. Interment will be at the Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
