Daughter of Frank & Mary (Frauendorfer) Brandl. She attended the Sacred Heart School in Cornlea. She married Anthony F. Zuerlein on Feb. 24, 1936, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cornlea. She was a lifetime resident of the Humphrey area. Leona was a homemaker and was employed at the Green Room Cafe in Humphrey and Dale Electronics. She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, polka and Big Band music. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society and the St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. Survivors include here daughters, Elaine (George) Pfeifer, of Norfolk, Carolyn (Norm) Mejstrik, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Nancy (Steve) Milbourn, of Grand Island, and Donna (Ron) Lehman, of Papillion; sons, Jim (Pat) Zuerlein, of Columbus, Gene (Eileen) Zuerlein, of Lincoln, and Tom Zuerlein, of Humphrey; 32 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma (David) Werner, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Darleen (Buster) Becker, of Enola; and brothers, Lawrence (Frances) Brandl and Victor (Eileen) Brandl, all of Columbus, and Merle (Geri) Brandl, of Norfolk. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anthony, who died Aug. 27, 1989; daughter, Alice Backes; sister, Viola (Harold) Wieser; and brother and sister-in-law, Ervin and Onalee Brandl.
