Bill grew up on a farm near Sterrett, TX riding a horse to school with his baby sister, Nell hanging on behind. Raised price winning hogs as 4H Club member. Finishing high school with no job prospect he joined CCCs Waxahachie Camp. Afterward, trained in aircraft assembly he joined Lockheed in Burbank, CA building P-38 Lightnings. After marriage, Oct 31, 1941 Mildred joined him in Burbank. Drafted in early 1944 he returned Mildred and their young son, Tom to the Hollabaugh farm in Ellis Co, TX before becoming Pvt. 1/c US Army Armored Infantry, for WWII. Serving in France, Germany, Belgium and Austria. Awarded 3 Battle Stars and the Combat Infantry Badge. The war over, he hired in 17 Dec 1945 at Convair near Ft. Worth as airframe assembler for first B-36 Peacemaker delivered to Air Force, later serviced B-58 Hustlers, F102s and F111s, as it became General Dynamics and then Lockheed, retiring in 1984 to happy life in White Settlement. Bill loved to play dominoes, at work he and friends played 29 minutes of dominoes during a 30 minute lunch period. He was a family man, Scout leader, high school band supporter and church volunteer. He kept horses for his family to enjoy, frequently appearing with a buggy full of neighborhood kids in parades. After the Love of His Life, Mildred, passed away he moved to Abilene, TX to be near his daughter and her family. He died peacefully 5 Nov 2017, smiling at daughter Robbie as he joined Mildred with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
