Bio

Bessie Darlene Stubblefield, 66, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born on March 30, 1935, in Gainesville, Texas, she was the daughter of William and Loki Fuller Pope. Mrs. Stubblefield moved to Oak Ridge in 1952 from Texas. A homemaker, she enjoyed flower gardening and was a member of Kern Memorial United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Robert Edward Stubblefield Jr., who died in 1987. Mrs. Stubblefield is survived by her son, Bob Stubblefield and his wife, Sharon, of Knoxville; her daughter, Pamela Stubblefield Wall of Oak Ridge; and her brothers, Raymond Pope, Charles Pope and his wife, Annelle, and James Pope and his wife, Rita, all of Gainesville, Texas; and her sister, Betty Atteberry and her husband, Travis Logan, of Denton, Texas. She is also survived by five grandchildren: David Wall Jr., Samantha Wall and her boyfriend, Mark Eichin, Geri Hopper and her husband, Terry, and Allison Morgan and her husband, Daniel, all of Oak Ridge, and Jennifer Smith and her husband, David, of Knoxville; one great-granddaughter, Hannah Leigh Hopper of Oak Ridge; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 12, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. John Unthank of Parkwest Church in Knox County officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
