Mary Alice Holloway, 84, of Waco, formerly of West, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Olive Branch Baptist Church near Axtell, with Dr. Rex Bland officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the funeral home. Mary Alice was born in Burkburnett, Texas, to the late William Floyd and Maggie Jewel (Walker) Bailey. She attended schools in Mt. Calm. On Oct. 13, 1945, she was united in marriage to Aubrey Francis Bigham in Waco. Then on Nov. 3, 1979, she was united in marriage to Arthur E. Holloway in Las Vegas, Nev. Mary Alice worked for several businesses including the Ben Franklin Store and Guy's N Gal's in West; Ed's Truck Stop in Elm Mott; and Mel's Diner in Carrollton. She was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church and the Rebekah Lodge in Bellmead. Mary Alice enjoyed fishing, sewing, cooking, and thrift shopping. She especially loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her first husband on April 1, 1977; her second husband, on Feb. 21, 1995; son, Dana Michael Bigham; brothers, Jack Bailey and Bill Bailey; and a sister, Mildred Patterson. Survivors include daughters, Judy Goetz, of West and Brenda Mathis and husband, Gary, of Waco; step-daughters, Karen Larson, of St. Louis, Mo. and Cynthia Holloway, of Waco; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joy Jupe and husband, Gene, of Tours; sister-in-law, Irene Bailey, of Mt. Calm; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Olive Branch Cemetery Association or Providence Hospice. WT: 12/02/2009...C5
